This year, 2009, we will suspend the Quarterly Newsletter, The Torch, but will continue to transmit the electronically transmitted, The E-Torch. The E-Torch will be e-mailed bi-monthly with more museum and community information. Our Golf Tournament, MARTHA'S MASTERS took place Monday, April 27th at 1:00 pm at the beautiful Pineisle Golf Course located at Lake Lanier and the turn out was great. Our special guests were Chris and Kyle Massey of ABC, Nickleon and Disney Television, and the entertainment was provided by Theodis Ealey and The Ifgam Revue. The day was enjoyed by all. All proceeds go to the museum's student advancement and educational fund, which is our Generation Inspiration arm.

Our first recipient of student aid for the year will go to Chikela Owens, one of our Generation graduates and a student of Brenau University. Chikela will study in Spain this summer, and the Museum will give her $500.00 to help in her endeavor.

Generation Inspiration is a youth leadership society at Gainesville High Scholl where students participate in programs that allow them to take an active part in defining and achieving personal goals. The main focus of the institution is to instill in each student the drive to make the most of his or her limitless future. It is a project of The Educational Foundation and Museum of Beulah Rucker Inc. and scholarship funds are made possible through generous donations from individuals and local community organizations.
